2nd Roar [Voice/Action] More like a Whimper
[Ever since his arrival to Luceti Simba has been plagued with occasional nightmares. However, lately they've been getting worse and more frequent. In House 45, some whimpering and moaning can be heard from where Simba usually sleeps on the floor. His legs twitch as if he's running in his dreams, and eventually wakes up screaming.]
NOOOOOOOO!
[He looks around in a panic, ears plastered against his head as he pants. Eventually he realizes where he has and starts to calm down. Using a paw to brush some tears away, his eyes then fall on his nearby journal. Needing someone to talk to, he pulls it over and opens it up. It's really early in the morning at this point and he's not sure if anyone will be awake but... he'll try anyway. He stammers a bit as he talks to the book.]
Is anyone there?

...Do you want to say what it is? I don't mind if you wouldn't, but your voice sound as if regret is plaguing you.
voice
[There's a pause as he thinks about it and is a bit overwhelmed. Putting a paw over his face, he sobs quietly.]
Dad. I'm sorry.
voice | private
I'm sure he knows you regret what happened.
Where are you? It isn't right to be alone when such scary dreams come back.
voice | private
But it's my fault. It's my fault that he's... gone.
[He shakes his head, as if willing to make the memories go away... and oh a question.]
Um... House... 45? I think?
voice | private
Why do you say it's your fault?

The wildebeest. If it wasn't for me, he'd still be alive.
> action
...that's a...big. cat. Yeah, he doesn't know what Simba is because lions do not exist in Japan.
Whatever he is though, the main thing is that he's scared and upset and as Souji draws closer, he smiles as reassuringly as he can before he kneels down, closing his book upon his lap.]
It is easy to blame ourselves when we have no one else to blame, but that is a road that will never end, little one.
> action
Simba looks up, hearing and smelling the human before he sees him. When he kneels down, Simba closes his journal and just stares at it.]
But I am to blame. Even he said so. If it wasn't for me, dad would still be alive.
action
[because wow, that is the worst thing to tell a kid ever. even a kid that will eventually grow up capable of taking down gazelle.]
action
Uncle Scar.
action
Tell me what happened. Some people only look for others to blame, even if there is no one really at fault.
action
So Simba tells him his point of view of what happened during the stampede. Of how he thinks his roar started it and how his died tried to save him. Then seeing his father fall to his death. After which his uncle told him that it was his fault, and to run away. Which he did.]
action
Maybe it was him who started it, but his father?]
He loved you. That much is obvious.
[Souji reaches out and tries to pet Simba's head reassuringly.]
If he had to die to make sure you lived, I'm sure any father would do it a hundred times over.
action
You think so? ... I still miss him.
action
I do think so. I think he would rather it have been him, than you that fell in that terrible place.
[He puts a finger under Simba's chin, trying to raise his face a little.]
You'll likely always miss him, and always feel this hurt, little one. Nothing much can take that from you. But missing him and honouring his memory by living well is the greatest joy you, as his son and treasure, can give him as your father.
action
Really? I... I want to do that.
[Sniffling a little, Simba then turns his eyes up towards the stars. This isn't his home, and the stars look different but... maybe his dad is still up there?]
action
[He lets go and looks up to where Simba is looking. The stars? Is there something significant about them?
He looks back down and studies Simba's expression for awhile and notices something like yearning. Sadness? Loneliness? ...Hope?]
He will watch over you, wherever you are, and likely be proud of you, whatever you do.
[Perhaps that's the right answer.]
Re: action
[Simba believed that what his dad said was true, or at least he wanted to believe it. He then looks over at Souji.]
But how do I do that? Especially in a place like this?
action
action
I... dunno. I ran away from home. Last thing I remember I was in the desert. The hyenas told me that if I ever came back, they'd kill me.
action
The place doesn't matter then. It's what you do that matters. To honour your father, live well, be proud, and-- [he tries to lift Simba's chin again] --never be ashamed of who you are.
Re: action
I guess I'll try.
[He then manages a little smile.]
Thanks
