2nd Roar [Voice/Action] More like a Whimper

[Ever since his arrival to Luceti Simba has been plagued with occasional nightmares. However, lately they've been getting worse and more frequent. In House 45, some whimpering and moaning can be heard from where Simba usually sleeps on the floor. His legs twitch as if he's running in his dreams, and eventually wakes up screaming.]

NOOOOOOOO!

[He looks around in a panic, ears plastered against his head as he pants. Eventually he realizes where he has and starts to calm down. Using a paw to brush some tears away, his eyes then fall on his nearby journal. Needing someone to talk to, he pulls it over and opens it up. It's really early in the morning at this point and he's not sure if anyone will be awake but... he'll try anyway. He stammers a bit as he talks to the book.]

Is anyone there?

[ Although slightly more ungodly than some people like, because Ikki is nothing if not an early bird. She checks the journals religiously when she's up, and finds Simba's post after getting dressed and sorting out breakfast.

It's a little worrying. ]

Hello? Are you okay?

[And Simba is still awake. He hasn't been able to get back to sleep, so he's left his journal open. Listening for anyone who might talk.]

Yeah, I think so. I just can't sleep.

[ ...He's lucky she's met so many anthromorphs, but Ikki definitely has to doublecheck the little picture now that she's totally paying attention.

That is definitely a talking cat, yes.

Normally she'd ask why, or give suggestions - too ready to play? too much to eat before bed? weird noises under your bed? - but the original message kind of gave this one away. ]

Bad dreams? [ It's sympathetic. She's had those herself. ]

Yeah.

[If Simba knew what she was thinking though, he would be glad she refrained from showering him with questions.]

Do you wanna talk about it, or do you wanna hear a story or somethin' to help you sleep? That always helps me!

Well, if you're still tryin' to sleep.

[A story? That's something he hadn't thought about. And really, he would like to hear one.]

Could you tell me a story?

[ Ikki takes a moment to get comfortable, going to the living room and settling in. ]

Once, a long, long time ago, there was a place called the Cat Kingdom.

[The Cat Kingdom huh? Simba settles down and goes quiet as he listens.]

In the Cat Kingdom there were many more creatures than just cats, though! You see, there were little girls like me, and horses and flying bison and starfish in the ocean and everything you can imagine. They were big and small and on land and in the sea and there was life everyyyyyyyyywhere you looked.

[That sounds kinda like where he's from. Minus the whole little girls and flying bison thing. But there were all sorts of animals around. So he keeps listening.]

For a long time the land was peaceful and happy - until one day when the sun fell out of the sky!

Whoa, the sun fell?!

[That's... pretty intense! He'd never heard of something like that before!]

Yeah!!!!

[ She's totally getting into it now. ...Even more so. ]

It turns out? Some really bad guy knocked it down! Because he didn't want anyone to have the happy days they'd been sharing any longer.

Well that's pretty dumb, and kinda mean.

[Simba notes this with a pout. Why would anyone want to do something stupid like that?]

It is!!! And one of the cats - a boy! - and one of the little girls decided that was SILLY and they were going to fix it! So they went on a quest...

[Oh a quest... that sounds really cool! Now Simba is listening rather intently.]

So the girl and the cat left their home - they lived in the center of the land, waaaaaay up high! - and went around to find out what had happened. No one knew why the sun had fallen, you see, except the evil bad guy who knocked it down!

Did they find it?

[Simba's voice is clearly one of interest.]

The sun? Well, it turned out it had fallen into the sea!

What's a ... sea?

[ ...There are people who don't know what the sea is? She...grew up on an island, so uh. ]

It's a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally big lake that all the land floats on!

Whoa... so kinda like a really big water hole, huh?

There are holes in the water where you live?

Huh? No no, it's a hole... with water in it.

[Yeah.]

[ ...that's less interesting. 8| ]

...Well, anyway, I guess it is a really big water hole! So they had to find a way to get it out.
